Bachelor of Education Degree in Applied Technology
Programme Overview
The VTDI’s Bachelor of Education in Applied Technology is designed to produce competent technical teachers for the teaching profession. Persons who have successfully completed this programme will be able to perform at higher levels of efficiency and will be able to prepare students at the secondary level for successful engagement in the twenty-first century workforce. Students will not only be empowered to employ relevant teaching methodologies in order to cater to the varied needs of their students, but they will also acquire the requisite technical competencies in their respective areas of specialization.
Minimum Entry Requirements
To be eligible for admission into this programme, the candidate must satisfy one of the following requirements:
Possess at least five CSEC subjects or their equivalent, including passes in English Language, Mathematics at grade 1, 2 or 3 (grade 3 after 1998) or
Possess a Level 2 in the field of specialization and at least two CSEC subjects or their equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics at grade 1, 2 or 3 (grade 3 after 1998)
NB* Advanced Placement
Holders of VTDI’s TVET Instructor Training Diploma are eligible for advanced placement into the programme. It should be noted however that applicants who have acquired VTDI’s Diploma up to 2003 will have to pursue bridging courses before they can pursue the Advanced Placement courses of the B.Ed. – Applied Technology programme
